Hi, I’m Eugen — the creator of Italian Designer Vault — and my journey into the world of Italian fashion started long before this website ever existed. In fact, it began in a tiny bedroom in 2004–2005, back when I was still in high school, trying to build my very first website on a slow computer that wheezed every time I opened more than two browser tabs.
That early site was called italian-fashion-designer.com. It was a simple project at first — just a space where I collected stories, brand timelines, and little bits of design history I found fascinating. While other teenagers were focused on games or music, I was obsessively reading about the heritage of Gucci’s horsebit, Prada’s nylon experiments, and the quiet power of Giorgio Armani’s tailoring.
I didn’t have any mentors in fashion. What I had was curiosity, a cheap hosting plan, and long evenings spent hunting for information in old interviews, forums, and press releases. Looking back, I didn’t fully realise it then, but that project shaped how I see fashion today: not just as clothing, but as craftsmanship, identity, and storytelling woven together.
ItalianDesignerVault.com is my way of returning to those roots — but this time, with better tools, more knowledge, and a much clearer vision.
What This Site Is About
This isn’t a news site, and it’s not trying to be a glossy magazine. Instead, it’s a curated space where I explore:
- The heritage and evolution of Italian designers
- The craftsmanship behind iconic materials and techniques
- The meaning behind classic motifs and house signatures
- Product comparisons, care guides, and buying insights for modern shoppers
I want this site to feel like a vault — a place where details, history, design philosophy, and shopping guidance all live together in a way that makes sense.
Why I Still Do This
Even after two decades of tinkering with websites, writing, and research, I’m still amazed at how Italian fashion keeps evolving while staying deeply connected to its roots. Brands reinvent themselves, designers reshape entire aesthetics, and materials once considered niche become global icons.
What keeps me here is simple: I love digging into the “why” behind it all. And I love sharing those discoveries with people who appreciate them — whether you’re a collector, a casual fan, or someone who just wants to understand the difference between two types of leather before buying a bag.
Thank You for Being Here
If you’ve read this far, thank you. This site is a labour of passion more than anything else, and every reader who stops by becomes part of a journey that started almost 20 years ago with a teenager, a dial-up connection, and a fascination for Italian design.
I hope the Vault gives you the insights, clarity, and inspiration you’re looking for.
— Eugen
